Nanoscopy

The platform-project will provide several microscopic techniques to other projects within the SFB 894.

Beside conventional laser-scanning-microscopy especially new high-resolution-techniques as 3D-Structured-Illumination-Microscopy (3D-SIM) and Photoactivated-Localization-Microscopy (PALM) are available.

These techniques allow an increased optical resolution in comparison to conventional microscopic methods (3D-SIM up to 100 nm, PALM up to 60 nm).

Therefore structures that could not be examined so far by light microscopy will now become accessible.

Further tasks of platform-project P1 are development and application of microscopic techniques to biological research.
