Complexin and synaptotagmin in exocytosis

This research project focuses on role of the SNARE regulators like Complexin and Synaptotagmin in the Ca2+-triggered exocytosis in chromaffin cells.

To address this issue, we will investigate the functional impact of Complexin and Synaptotagmin mutant variants in mouse chromaffin cells that are genetically deficient for these proteins. The studies are expected to provide new insight into the potential interplay of both proteins during Ca2+-triggered vesicle exocytosis.

By using a combination of high-resolution membrane capacitance measurements, amperometry and photolytic 'uncaging' of [Ca2+]i, we will track the function of these proteins from pre- to post-fusional stages.
