CIPMM Inauguration Symposium

September 30 & October 1, 2015
Center for Integrative Physiology and Molecular Medicine CIPMM
Saarland University

The scientific inauguration of the new „Center for Integrative Physiology and Molecular Medicine“ (CIPMM) will be celebrated with a symposium at the Saarland University on September 30 & October 1, 2015.

This state-of-the-art facility is dedicated to collaboratively investigate the neuro-endocrine-immune interactions in order to ultimately find cures for diseases. The CIPMM pursues a system-oriented strategy, integrating molecular, genetic, cellular and behavioral analysis approaches, in order to decode the function and dysfunction of signalling processes mediating the interaction of the three biological systems.

Headlined by one Nobel Laureate and followed by lectures of distinguished leaders in the area of neuro-endocrine-immune interactions, this event will provide an unparalleled opportunity for exchanging and networking among all CIPMM members and the international speakers.

Confirmed speakers:

Nils Brose
Stuart Firestein
Eckart Gundelfinger
Philip Haydon
Fritjof Helmchen
Peter Mombaerts
Erwin Neher
Anant Parekh
Murali Prakriya
Jörg Striessnig
John Wood

Ribbon Synapses Symposium 2015

September 24th - 26th, 2015
Max-Planck-Institute for Experimental Medicine in Goettingen, Germany

We would like to announce the Ribbon Synapses Symposium 2015, a small-sized international meeting to be held from the September 24th to 26th 2015 in Göttingen, Germany.

The conference is jointly organized by the two Collaborative Research Centers "Cellular Mechanisms of Sensory Processing" and "Ca2+Signaling: Molecular Mechanisms und Integrative Functions".

Ribbon synapses of sensory cells in the inner ear and the retina are specialized in reliably transmitting sensory information over prolonged periods of time. Recent work has achieved major progress in understanding ribbon synapse molecular anatomy and physiology. Moreover, ribbon synapse function has been explored at the sensory systems level and by computational approaches. The meeting brings together experts in the field for discussing new data and providing a current overview on the processing of sensory information at ribbon synapses. We encourage participation of young scientists who might contribute by a poster or short talk (a limited number of slots are available).

2nd European Calcium Channel Conference

Alpbach, Austria - May 13-16, 2015

Organizers:

M. Biel, V. Flockerzi, B.E. Flucher, J. Striessnig, P. Pietrobon, E. Carbone

The European Calcium Channel Conference 2015 will focus on voltage-gated calcium channels and other structurally related ion channels involved in calcium signaling in excitable cells. Like in the successful first conference three years ago it will bring together the leaders in the field and young researchers at a fantastic setting in the Austrian Alps to discuss the latest developments in ion channel research. Technical workshops, posters and social activities will complement the meeting program. Here you find our preliminary program.

The European Calcium Channel Conference is organized every three years, alternating with the International Calcium Channel Conferences (http://www.calciumchannel.com).
